Switch To The Safest Option

Fortress Interlocks is a leader in machine safety specializing in keeping the people in the facility safe as well as increase productivity. The quality of their products is the reason why we would like to introduce the ncGuard line of non-contact safety switches.

These non-contact safety switches that can be used to automatically turn off power of machinery and prevent machinery from starting when the door of a hazardous area is open with the goal of keeping personnel safe. The ncGuard line incorporates both magnetic and RFID technologies.

Along with that, they are easy to install, extremely long-lasting and require minimal maintenance. These switches may be applied to many applications in the manufacturing, power, process, and transportation industries.

The line is currently composed of 6 products:
  • FM Range - Magnetic Safety Switches
  • FE Range - Magnetically Coded Safety Switches
  • NCS Range - IP69K Solid State Hall Effect Sensors
  • FS Range - Generic Code RFID Safety Switches
  • FR Range - Individually Coded RFID Safety Switches
  • ATOM - RFID Safety Interlock

Attend One of Our Siemens Seminars at Our Upcoming Industrial Automation Expo!

C&E will be hosting an Industrial Automation Expo in Carmel, IN on Oct. 25th, 2016. Our expo is manufacturer's-driven to share ideas and technology keeping manufacturing alive in America. There will be workshops and seminars throughout the day highlighting safety, automation, sensing, vision, controls, and motion products. Below is a list of our variety of Siemens seminars that will be held during the expo. Please stop by for a visit and attend as many seminars as you'd like.

Motion Control in a PLC... Machine Control in a Drive:

  • Discover what is possible with Siemens! Hear an overview on the built-in capabilities of Siemens PLC control for servo drives, and also the limitation which dictate a Motion Controller instead.
Rockwell to Siemens Conversions:
  • Hear from a systems integrator to the possible benefits of a control platform conversion. You will also learn in this session how this process can be managed to be an efficient and effective task.
Siemens EIP Connectivity:
  • If a conversion is not in your planning, included in this presentation will be Siemens EIP Connectivity. We will show you how you can use products such as Siemens Drives and HMI's with  your current Rockwell processor. Discover how simple this process can be with tools Siemens has added for your use.
UHF RFID On The Factory Floor:
  • Industrial RFID systems can allow for part traceability and control in your manufacturing processes. UHF RFID has been utilized in warehousing and logistics for years. Deploying UHF RFID in an industrial setting has a unique set of challenges and Siemens has developed a set of products to address those challenges. Attend this seminar to learn how Siemens readers and deployment tools can solve your UHF applications.

Compact RFID Read/Write Head For Restricted Mounting

Turck has now released the TB-Q08, currently the smallest ISO15693 compliant RFID read/write head on the market with protection to IP67. The housing is able to integrate the antenna, electronics, and two LEDs visible from all directions, despite its compact dimensions of 32 x 20 x 80 mm. The LEDs indicate a functioning power supply as well as active read/write operations to the user.

The TB-Q08 has a compact rectangular design and 15cm long connection cable with an M12 connector, making it particularly suitable for use in restricted mounting conditions, such as small assembly and transport lines.

The TB-Q08 can fully play to its strengths in the identification of metal objects, when combined with Turck's new R10 and R12 tags. The new 10 and 12 mm diameter tags can be mounted directly in metal and are equipped with a chip, which supports password functions. In conjunction with Turck's BL ident RFID system, the user can implement simple brand protection, access protection and access rights management.

RFID: HF Solution with Extended Surface Area

TURCK announces the Q80L800 HF read/write head, the latest addition to the company's comprehensive RFID portfolio. The Q80L800, with a sensing range of 800 mm, offers an ideal solution for close and medium HF applications, such as conveyor applications, and expands the sensing area, providing improved performance and higher read rates of tags.

The Q80L800 HF read/write solution can be operated on TURCK's BL ident solution, which allows for easy integration into existing  control systems and supports all of the major protocols, providing an all-in-one industrial RFID solution. To offer even more flexibility, the Q80L800 can be operated simultaneously with UHF solutions, providing an industrial RFID solution that is unmatched in the market.

The active read/write head supports the ISO 15693 Standard and combines antenna and electronics in a robust IP67 housing with the dimensions 80 x 800 x 25 mm. In combination with TURCK's robust HF tags, which allow direct mounting on metal, use at high temperatures or in autoclaves, the Q80L800 is a great solution for conveyor and web processing applications.

"The addition of the Q80L800 HF read/write head broadens our RFID portfolio and provides our customers with an improved solution", said Matt Boudjouk, product manager for TURCK. "The large sensing area provides customers with improved performance and an RFID solution that reads tags at a higher rate whenever the tags are mounted in a variety of locations."
