Circle The Wagons, Siemens Is Moving West!

C&E Is Now A Local Distributor For Siemens Automation Products In Southwest Indiana and Southwest Kentucky!

C&E has always been able to provide you with Siemens motion and control products. In addition, we are now authorized to distribute Siemens automation products.

Because of this announcement C&E will be providing customers with training, workshops, and webinars on the new products available. Recently, we've hosted a Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs Workshop in Evansville, IN and Louisville, KY and will be in Owensboro, KY next Tuesday, 3/29. In this training, Brad Hart, one of C&E's Automation Specialists, covers the S7-1200 and S7-1500 platforms, Basic and Comfort panel HMIs, and how TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) helps you achieve Engineering Efficiency using one GUI to completely integrate your PLC, HMI, Drives, and Safety Control in the same project.

A little information about some of the featured products:
  • SIMATIC S7-1200 - this is a modular space-saving controller for small automation systems that require either simple or advanced functionality for logic, HMI, and networking. It is both compact and highly powerful, especially in relation to its real-time performance. It is fast, features great communication options, and is programmed with easy-to-operate, easy-to-learn software.
  • Siemens S7-1200/S7-1500 TIA Portal -
    • TIA Portal: Scalable and felxible design, one GUI
    • Built-in PROFINET/Ethernet port, integrated I/O on compact controller units
    • Integrated diagnostics with the S7-1500 system on controller LCD display
    • Safety controllers that don't break the bank
    • Simple device replacement using topology

Next-Generation Touch Buttons From Banner: Featuring Smart Electric Field Sensing For Superior Immunity

Banner Engineering has introduced its next generation touch buttons for the K30, K50, and K70 multi-color indicators and pick-to-light sensors. Banner's next generation (Gen 2) touch buttons employ smart electric field sensing. This technology provides the Gen 2 touch buttons with excellent immunity to false triggering caused by the buildup of detergents, oils, and other foreign materials as well as exposure to direct water spray. It also improves actuation performance with gloves.

The K70 is a brand new addition to Banner's multi-color and pick-to-light sensor family. The K70 features a 70 mm touch dome with a 30 mm base, making it optimal for larger industrial applications in addition to jobs that require more visibility. There are nine color options with the K70 and one-, two-, and three-color models for flexible performance.

The next generation K30 and K50 offer flexible communication and simplified setup of a single device or multi-point applications. The K50 is available in one-, two-, and three-color models, while the K30 is available in one- and two-color models. New FDA models are also available, which are constructed from FDA-grade material and fully encapsulated for use in food and beverage applications. The FDA models are gray in color to better match stainless steel and to differentiate them from the standard models, which are black.

In addition to excellent immunity, next generation K30, K50, and K70 indicators are ergonomically designed to eliminate hand, wrist, and arm stresses associated with repeated switch operation, requiring no physical force to operate. The indicators can also be easily actuated with bare hands or in gloves.

Turck Expands Capacitive Sensor Line with Teachable Options

Expanding its line of capacitive sensors, Turck is now offering 18 mm and 30 mm capacitive barrel sensors with teachable capabilities. The new offering comes in two variants: teach by wire or teach by button.

The teach by button variant can be taught by a single press of a button, saving valuable installation and configuration time. Both present and absent media can be taught for a higher sensitivity teach. The variant without a push button can be taught either by a teach adapter or teach by wire (pin 5), which allows for a tamper-resistant installation. Each variant is available in PNP or NPN.

The 18 mm housed version offers a 5 mm sensing range when flush mounted and a 7.5 mm range when not flush mounted. The 30 mm housed version offers a 10 mm sensing when flush mounted, with a sensing range of 15 mm when not flush mounted. The expanded offering can be switched between NC and NO, and provides optical programming feedback through LEDs.
