DF-G1 Expert Fiber Optic Sensor - NOW with IO-Link

Simple set-up and configuration, and stable performance guided the development of the DF-G1
An updated mechanical design, with an improved fiber clamp and a sleek look-and-feel, makes the DF-G1 a compelling upgrade to your existing fiber optic solutions. This dual display fiber amplifier expands the range of applications you can tackle with plastic and glass fiber optic assemblies.

With IO-Link, the machine builder can achieve point-to-point communication over the last meter of cable when the amplifier is connected to IO-Link to Bus Network adapter.
  • Sensor parameters can be changed, save to and uploaded from a PC using a USB to IO-Link converter and standard DTM (Device Type Manager) files and a FDT (Field Device Tool) container software such as PACTware. This enables storing and documentation of the sensor parameter lists for auditing or replacement of sensors.
  • The second output (white wire / Pin 2) continues to operate at full response speed when communication is occurring over the IO-Link output (black wire / Pin 4) allowing both a high speed response time output and sensor performance logging to occur in simultaneously.

Machine Vision: Diffuse Light Panels Growing in Popularity

Smart Vision Lights DLP Series illuminators are innovative and highly versatile lights. Think of a powerful backlight with a hole in the center. The result is homogeneous illumination similar to dome lighting.  These products emulate dome lighting by allowing light to come from multiple directions while giving the freedom to mount the light at a distance when domes must be mounted directly on top of the object.

DLP lights can also be used to fill an area with soft diffuse light. This type of illumination reduces shadowing, reflection, and eliminates hot spots that point source spot lights can produce. The built-in LED driver makes connect-ability a snap featuring NPN/PNP strobe trigger input and remote analog intensity control through a 1-10V signal. DLP lights can run in continuous on or be pulsed. Available in multiple colors/wavelengths.

TURCK QR24 Rotary Contactless Position Detection

The QR24 provides contactless position detection and wear-free performance in a variety of industrial applications ranging from solar energy plants and harvesters to crane vehicles and AGVs.

Rotary feedback is critical in nearly every installation, and most rely on their mechanical bearings to provide proper tolerance and position of the internal system. After time, this results in mechanical wear, vibrations, potential leaks and requires spring elements. The QR24 provides superior performance without the need for contact or bearings, allowing it to successfully
execute the same functions as an encoder or potentiometer while eliminating wear and extending sensor longevity.

The Turck QR24 is part of the company’s industry-recognized Q-track family of sensors, which utilize resistance inductive capacitance (RLC) measuring technology. Unlike potentiometric or magnetic technologies, the sensors incorporate precisely manufactured printed emitter and receiver coil systems. The emitter coils are activated with a high frequency AC field and produce an inductive RLC circuit with the positioning element. The element is inductively coupled with the receiver coils, which are arranged so different voltages are induced in the coils, depending on the position of the actuator. The voltages serve as a measure for the sensor signal.

The QR24’s multi-coil system provides high resolution, while ensuring 16-bit noiseless operation. The sensor also features a double resonator system, providing increased distance capability and high-end signal processing with multi-core microprocessor for enhanced speed.
Along with advanced design features, the QR24 sensor features a fully potted and sealed IP69K/IP67-rated housing to protect against moisture and dust in demanding environments. It also offers flexible parameterization via IO Link or easyteach, allowing the sensor to easily adapt to specific application requirements.

Red Lion's Watchdog Relay

Red Lion's Watchdog relay is the industry's only rugged hardware-based solution that reliably monitors and provides fail-safe shutdown of processes controlled by RTUs, PLCs and other automation devices. This industrial automation solution helps to proactively protect unmanned processes on 24/7 basis.
Innovative Features:
Watchdog Relay monitors the pulsing output heartbeat of a connected device to add an extra level of safety that helps protect critical processes across industrial environments that include oil, gas, maritime, power and energy.  If the heartbeat stops for reasons that may include power surges, extreme weather or device malfunctions, Watchdog's built-in Form C relay will immediately energize and provide a signal that can be used to safety shut down the process. The signal sent upon loss of control helps to avoid costly damage to materials and equipment.

Built to operate under extreme conditions, the Watchdog Relay supports temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 80 degrees Celsius, as well as 5% to 85% humidity.  It carries Class I, Div II and ATEX hazardous locations certifications, and has been marine and offshore tested and/or verified to meet standards such as ABS, DNV No. 2.4 and Lloyds.

Red Lion's Watchdog Relay allows customers to protect unmanned processes across a diverse range of industries to include oil, gas, maritime, power and energy.

Stainless Steel Junction Box for Harsh Process Environments

TURCK Stainless Steel Junction Box Connects Up to
Eight Signals in Harsh Process Environments

TURCK introduces its new stainless steel process junction box. With the ability to consolidate up to eight individual, localized analog or discrete signals into a single device, this junction box streamlines connectivity requirements. For greater simplicity, the signals are then routed to a control unit through a single homerun cable.

In addition to simplifying connectivity, TURCK stainless steel process junction boxes provide a robust connectivity solution in harsh environments such as oil and gas exploration, off-shore drilling platforms and pharmaceutical plants. The junction boxes feature FM approval for Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D hazardous locations, and ingress protection of IP67 including the junction boxes receptacles as long as the ports are covered/connected. Additionally, TURCK stainless steel process junction boxes have cast 316 stainless steel electropolished housing ensuring optimal performance in areas that present severe environmental conditions including water, salt spray, gases and other corrosive materials.

"The new stainless steel process junction boxes take our connectivity capabilities to a whole new level," said Jeff Schoenberg, Connectivity Product Manager, TURCK. "With a robust design and enhanced connection capabilities for multiple signals, our customers can achieve the performance and compatibility required for harsh process automation environments."

TURCK stainless steel junction boxes utilize TURCK minifast (7/8”) or eurofast (M12) port connectors and include a multifast (M23) homerun connector.
