Going The Distance With Banner's Q4X Laser Distance Measurement Sensor

Banner's Versatile Q4X Series Adds Long-Range Models

Banner Engineering's Q4X, a rugged laser distance sensor, offers superior performance and is able to detect sub-millimeter changes in distance. Compared to the leading competitors' 500 mm range, the Banner Q4X now has a 22% longer range of up to 600 mm and is capable of 2 to 4 times higher precision across the sensing range. This sensor is up to three times more precise and has double the maximum sensing range than previously available.

The Q4X discrete and analog sensors come standard with new problem-solving firmware. Dual mode, dual intensity distance window, is an innovative new teach mode that allows the Q4X to solve new applications. Transparent objects can be reliably detected without the need for a retro-reflector. The sensor will be successful in error-proofing applications where you need to know an object is not only present but also the correct color of reflectivity.

Key Features:
  • Reliable sensing range of 25 mm to 600 mm for threaded barrel housings and 35 mm to 610 mm for flush mount housings
  • Able to detect height changes as small as 0.5 mm
  • Dual mode sensing measures distance and light intensity and can be used for reliable clear object detection, error proofing, and to verify presence or absence beyond the sensing range
  • Detects targets regardless of target surface reflectivity
  • Delay timers, remote input, and advanced measurement modes expand the range of applications solved with a single sensor
  • IO-Link enables remote configuration, sensor backup, easier preventative maintenance, and more
